Tea Time
2024

I start my day with a cup of tea when mornings are slow and steady. I am inspired by how a few dried leaves and bags can set the tone. This simple ritual makes me feel at home even when I am far away.

In this work, it is a layer of a tea bag from home that I pressed a flower from the garden into. It is stuck on top of an outstretched traditional tea bag I used from set of tea bags my friend gave me. The tea bag satchel is the foundation of the pieces. It was brewed with some local loose-leaf tea from the village I was visiting in France. This is one of many in the series showcasing the flower bloom's remainder.

Each type of tea leaves behind a unique color and pattern on the bag it is brewed in. The organic patterns and designs are as unique as every leave that falls in autumn. At most all of the homes I have ever lived there was a Magnolia tree. In this body of work celebrating the uniqueness of the material and the comfort of home blend seamlessly together.
